Default Crash Bars

I'm new to HD and am still learning the ropes.

Forgive my ignorance here, but do many folks take the crash bars off of the Deluxe models? I've seen a few without, but I wasn't sure if this was a common thing to take off after purchase.

I have always had frame sliders on my other bikes, and I assume that these are just that...big shiny frame sliders. Or do they contribute to frame rigidity in any way? Wow...I'm really reaching here:-)

Regards,
JC

Also used for a place to mount your road pegs. Nice for stretching out on the open road.

The Deluxe does not come with Engine Guards, removing it will not effect your frame. They are an option, some like them some dont. They are functional if the bike is dropped at slow speeds and work for a place to mount highway pegs.

Its your choice.

One of the 1st thing salesman told me was they are not CRASH bars, Their ENGINE guards. for reasons above...

Wont help in crash. that is old terminology, meaning someone probably sued the makers for calling them crash bars and still got injured in a wreck....

I've seen more guys going in the opposite direction, this is, adding the rear guards also (saddlebag guards???), they look cool IMO, kinda ol' school...

I do not think that any of the bikes come with stock Engine Guards. I have an 2007 Heritage Classic. I put Engine and Saddle bag guards on mine. They are a lot cheaper than replacing saddle bags or engines.
Just like someone said, good for your highway pegs.
