Unhappy What about engine guards

I was thinking of installing an engine guard temporarily. Reason being .I dropped the bike practicing ride like a pro circles, and did some damage to the bike. Until I get better I thought it might save me some $s.

I got a brand new Jardine guard for my fatboy off ebay for $50 thanks to a thread on this forum. Don't know if he still has any left, but the sellers name was "Cyclesearch".

Couldn't beat the price - they are brand new, and they look great on my fatboy.

I wouldn't do it "temporarily", I would do it permanently. It gives you a place to mount foot pegs, air deflectors and extra lights.

Why HD doesn't call them crash bars instead of engine guards is only a marketing ploy. Truthfully, mine have saved my bacon a couple of times. As the old saying goes, "If you haven't dropped it, you haven't ridden it much". A set of bars will save a lot of chrome and paint, as well as a lot of skin. Under the right circumstances it will keep the heavy thing off of you and you will be able to walk away without serious injury.

Just my two cents.

I agree with KentuckyDave. Put a good one on there and mount some highway pegs to it. I went down on my Sporty a couple months back and that bar was ripped from the frame. But my legs were fine. Get one on there and keep it on there.

Not crazy about 'em personally, but if you think it'd help you out, then go for it -

I bought one before my bike ever left my garage. I haven't needed it but I think they look cool to me they deffinitely make a bike look wider. Plus the safety advantage is incredible. I bought the HD one.
