Default Heritage Softail Speedometer Problem

I have a 2006 Heritage Softail Classic and the speedometer is intermittent. It will work for a couple of days and then go dead for up to a week then work again for a little while. The odometer works fine, the signals work fine and the auto cancel works fine. Where should I look for the problem. I cleaned the speed sensor and it worked for a dat or two and died again.

You might need a new speed sensor -

jiggle the ignition switch and see if it starts working. If it does it's in the switch.

Tried the switch. When I turn the switch to the accessory position the needle on the speedo goes all the way to the right and stays there even when I turn to the off position. I have to toggle netween off and ignition to get the needle to go back to zero but the speedo still doesn't work.
