Where does the siren install on a fatboy?
Hello, I just bought a new 09 Fat boy today!! I like to do most of my accessories installs myself but like to get some advice for you experts on this forums.
1): Having trouble finding the location for the siren. Any help here?
2
Is installing the flat surface gauges, the LED type for fuel read out and the pop-up gas cover, something I can do? Or should I stay with a traditional type covers??
3
I like to install a new speedo\ tach gauge..is this plug and play affair?
4
Recommend a solo look option as well as detachable passenger back rest I should consider. BTW, Do I ever remove the plastic protection film from underneath the passenger pad?
Finally , Is it too late to ride to Sturgis!!, HA!!!
The Performance motor mods will come later... after break-in.
Thanks for your help.

1. I do not know
2. lots of people report problems with the LED's going out.
3. you have to take it into the dealer to have the mileage set and get a statement about the mileage.
4. for solo seats I like the lepara models on a fatboy. If you remove the film, heat it a little with a hair dryer first. some people have pealed of paint along with it. If you remove it, you may rub a a hole in your paint with the seat. a fender bib may be a better idea to just cover it.

The only one I can help you with is #1.
I recently installed the siren in my 08 Fatty. There's instructions that come with the siren that tell you almost everything you need to know.
The siren fits into an electrical box just in front of the rear tire. You remove a bolt that holds a plastic protection cover, then it exposes the box that the siren snaps into.
The only thing you need to know that the instructions do not tell you is: when you feed the antenna wire up to where the battery is, make sure you leave a bit of slack in it so that if you go over a bump and your suspension moves a bit more than normal, it won't snap the antenna wire from stretching it. Don't ask me how I know this.

My friend at the parts counter told me to stay away from the flat surface LED gauges, (the LED type for fuel read out) beacuse Harley is having trouble with them......
