Default How to install Smart Security System on 08+ Touring

Picked up a smart security system for my 09 FLHX. Does anyone have any instructions on how to install these things? Will I have to get the dealer to do anything once it's installed? Thanks in advance!

Default Smart Siren II

I installed mine yesterday. The instructions were NOT for my 09 FLHX as far as the location for the siren.

Don't remove the right side saddle bag or cover- it doesn't go there anymore.

Remove the left side saddle bag and cover.
Remove the 40 amp maxi-fuse.

The siren snaps in just forward of the fuse box. The wiring and connector for it was near the bottom of the fuse box.

Follow the instructions for everything else.

Good luck !

Thanks! Are you talking just about the siren or the complete isecurity system and siren?

I really didn't get any complete instructions. All I got was single page with 3 installation lines. It mostly talks about sidecar stuff. It says Rev. 2007-11-07 on the upper right of the page.

What instructions are you referring to? Did you need to program anything or have the dealer program anything? Or was it plug it and and it all worked fine without any additional steps?

The Instructions I got with the Smart Siren II are Rev. 07-18-2005 for kit number 68328-06. Total of 7 pages with Installation for 2004 and later models on pages 3-4.

I also got the Smart Security Pager II, but the Siren must be done first as it's the transmitter for the pager.

-Remove the left side saddle bag and side cover.
-Remove the 40 amp maxi-fuse.
-Connect the siren wire harness to the siren (harness should be below or next to the fuse box)
-Siren then snaps into position forward of the fuse box with connector facing forward. (make sure the round speaker hole faces outward !)
-Uncoil the siren antenna wire and attach to frame rail using the supplied self adhesive velcro. (the antenna wire should be sandwiched between the velcro) Make sure the smaller end of the antenna wire is NOT touching the metal frame.
-Reinstall the maxi fuse

The rest is covered in your owners manual on page 126 I think. It tells you how to set up the siren for either chirp or chirpless modes. It's a very easy job, just read the owners manual section on the security system first.

Once the siren is installed you can add the pager to it.

kempes, i installed the harley smart alarm a couple of weeks ago, and it will not work right away. the battery in the smart alarm has to be charged, and this is accomplished by riding your bike a few times. it charges the internal battery while the bike is running. to check for a complete charge, i hid the fob from my bike, several yards away, and then stood the bike upright. it chirped once, then a few seconds later it chirped again. about another three to five seconds all hell broke loose. they do emit a piercing sound that's quite loud. i installed it because when i take a road trip that takes a few days, i end up having to sleep some time. i just hate the idea of getting up in the motel every hour or so to peep through the curtains to see if my bike is still there. it may not be the perfect answer to security, but it's better than not having anything at all, that's the way i see it.

Default Security system

Ok, thanks. I'll charge it first. My other question: is this siren is capable to work itself only with pager? Or I have to install the main security system with key fob. I just bought security system II with the pager , I thought it's simple task to plug and encode the pager ?

You have to have the factory security system on the bike before the siren / pager will work.
