I have an 04 RKC with V&H oval slip on's, stock pipes. I bought it this way so I can't really compare them to stock but I can say it sounds great! I love just listening to the sound whether rolling on the throttle or on a steady cruise. They are not REAL LOUD like open pipes but they are loud enough that they will save the lives of little children, old ladies, or anyone else that is in the habit of crossing the street without looking first.
My bud has an 08 Heritage w/ Vanse & Hines Big Shots. They sound and look great. So much so I immediately bought some V&H Straightshots HS slip ons for my 08 heritage. Noy only cheaper but I wanted to keep my original header pipes and not cover the "Six Speed" on the clutch cover. My bud has Quiet baffles w/o the glass pack. I left the glass pack on mine because I wanted it even more quiet. My bike sounds pretty deep and throaty. So far I love the pipes. Also, not only did I get a great look and deep sound, my gas mileage improved signifcantly and I believe the bike runs better. No numbers to prove it tho... I just posted pics of the bike w/ new mufflers & bars I installed over the weekend. I am very pleased overall.
I had screaming eagle slipons on the bike when I bought it....sound was not loud enough for my deaf ears so I went with the V&H BR and recently took the baffles out. Im very happy with them and just got back from deals gap averaged 46MPG
