I wondered if I would regret my first post. Thanks for the fnewgy jabs and rolling out the red carpet for me.
I was just busting your chops bro, it's all good. But I was serious about the search, as I have done it several times on this subject also. I am due for an oil change, so I was curious to know what people are using too.
Has anyone looked at http://motorcycleinfo.calsci.com/oils/html...an education in oils...if what they say on this site is true, not all oils are created equal. Brand isn't as much an issue if your changing at 2500-3000 miles. Most oils will retain much of their additive package at that mileage.
Some test results I've seen published indicated you should change Harley 20/50 dino after 1500 miles....If I remember correctly they said after 1500 miles it's viscosity is considerably less than 50....and less than Shell Rotella dino (even after 5K+ miles on the Rotella).
I regret Rotella (dino) Diesel isn't made in 20/50W...it has great specs/additive package and retains good additive level/viscosity past 5K miles. Despite the lower initial viscosity (15/40?), I hear some folks run Rotella dino in Harleys during the cooler months and switch to a 20/50 during the hot summer months. I hear their synthetic is good too.

By the way, WELCOME!!!!!
Wait until I find someone with less posts than me. Alls fair.

I hear ya man and good luck. For what it's worth, I am going with Lucas 20w/50 synthetic in all three holes with a Wix filter on mine. That just happens to be the best thing I can find local, and I have heard plenty of good things, and bad things of course, about the Lucas stuff. Problem with your question is, for every person that says one brand or type is good, there will also be one that says it sucks. I will just do a trial and error myself, and see what works best for me.
Harley will buy oil from the lowest bidder.
I use Bel Ray for the trans and no wine or clank and I can find neutral. I use Motor FactoryŽ Primary Case Lube in the primary. because Amsoil has gone up so much I just switched to Mobil 1 for vtwin and it works as good. I have 39,000 miles in about 2 years and it runs great and no debris in the oil changes. http://www.belray.com/consumer/product.fsp?pid=13637 http://www.customchrome.com/dcm/cc/view.asp?mfoil.html
