Well, I just got back from a ride this evening after dropping my NT for the first time. I stopped for gas and put the jiffy stand in place and down she went. When I took her in for the 1000 service, I asked the service rep to take a look at the jiffy stand. To me, it just never seemed like the pin was the whole way through the joint but he insisted it was designed that way. Well, I think I learned tonight that it infact wasn't "designed that way".
Luckily, I escaped only with a scratched and bent mirror, turn signal, clutch lever, shifter primary case not to mention my pride. There was no damage to the tank but the badge did scuff a little bit. What does it take for these dumb @ss dealers to give some decent service?!?!?!?!?
Damn dude...I know that sick feeling first hand! Did the kickstand fail or fold up? Glad you are ok.
It failed. I came home, put it on the jack and I can see the pin is definitely not the whole way through. It is catching on something and doesn't fold up smoothly like it should.
Bummer! My kick stand wasn't feeling right either and had them check it out and they said it looks fine. I had them put it in writing for just this kind of thing.
Now you need to go cast your vote on the "What kind of rider are you? Vote"..... Yes I had to check yes on that pole. Fortunately it was 40 years ago
Many of us have had kickstand flukes next time check it yourself and be sure ... Sorry it happened though .. Shame when the service dept can't fix something as simple as that..
