Crossbones Exhaust Help
I'm putting Vance and Hines bigshots on my 2009 Crossbones along with a screaming eagle back plate for my air cleaner and K&N filter. I am thinking about installing a Vance and Hines FuelPak also which V&H claims won't require me to dyno my bike. Does anyone have any info or experience with the FuelPak? or any suggestions?
Thanks

I have the fuelpak and it works great! I have the screaming eagle intake and big radius pipes. The bike runs strong. You can go to the vance and hines site and get the map for your specific setup. then you just punch it in to the fuelpak.
Are you planning on any future mods? If so I think I would look into another more tunable unit. The power commander V from fuelmoto.com is not that much more and it will be shipped with a map. Also if later on you want a fine tune you can take this to a dyno a fuelpak you can not. If you are just going to run pipes and A/C fuelpak will work fine. GOOD LUCK!!!
i currently have a fuelpak but there is no adjustment on it and it makes the bike backfire on decel. even the vance and hines codes for it dont fix it.
i am waiting on a thundermax with autotune unit coming if you want to only spend your money once buy this.

Yeah....the o2 sensors are used to vary a/f ratio based on programmed fuel maps for given parameters. Changing the volumetric efficiency of an engine requires that you reprogram the fuel maps.....dude.
The new software is supposed to address the backfiring on decel. You have to send the fuelpak back to v + h for the update tho. I may do that this winter. I agree, if you are going to do more than pipes, you prob want to go with the power commander.

Thanks everyone,
I installed the V&H big shots a few days ago along with the SE air cleaner back plate. Did it myself. Everything went smoothly for someone who has never messed with a harley before. I learn quick.
I spoke with a local HD dealer and was told if it rides good and not too hot. There's no need for anything else. I took it on about a 100 mile ride yesterday. And it went well. rides great. sounds great. no back firing. And temp seemed fine.
Are there any other concerns I should have?
Thanks

I have the Arlen Ness Big Sucker intake, FPak and the same pipes. I get an occasional pop on decel and between shifts when winding out on accel but it's very little and overall runs great. The engine is about 30% cooler and I'm still getting 48-50mgp on the highway.
