Default How to get part numbers?

I wanted to get a part # for a crossbones style rear brake arm pad(the oval rubber thing). Is there a sight where I can get HD part numbers from?

Best bet is to bite the bullet and buy the service manual and the parts manual.
It'll be te best investment you'll ever get for your bike and save you a ton of money having to pay dealer labor costs.

Getting a copy of the electrical manual isn't a bad idea either, but that can wait a little while.

PS a visit to the dealer can usually get you the right part number if your polite and ask the parts counter guy.
But I would still get a copy of the parts and service manual's (and I did for my bike) for myself.

I second the service manual. These should always be bought at time of purchasing a bike. I have never owned a parts manual though and I see no need. If you go to the dealer and ask politely like mentioned they will get you the number. If they want to sell parts they will find the part number.

If you dont want to buy the part from the HD dealer, just ask them the price of the part, they will need to part number to find the price and when they find it ask for the part number so "it will be easier for them to find when you come back to purchase it".

If you want the part number for the rubber pad from the Cross Bones, it's 43992-08.

My service manual has the wiring and that saved me some bucks. I saw the parts manual at the parts counter and most parts people will give you a look or look it up for you. it has nice diagrams

Thanks for the replies,(esp. for the part #).

I don't think the parts manual would help me because the part in question is from a crossbones and I have an older fatboy, but maybe I am wrong.

Most of the time the problem is getting to the dealer when they are open I wish they were open more nights or sunday.

Get the parts book for your 02 Softail, and 09 softail (Cheaper than chrome :-O)
then you can see what parts are the same, AND whats different.

While we are on the subject of part numbers for the XBones here is a tidbit for other 08 owners who are looking to buy the parts manual. You need to get the 2009 parts manual because the XBones was a mid-year model and it didn't make it into the 2008 manual. The dealer I bought my manuals from let me check his 08s to verify this.
