Default '09 Crossbones exhuast help

I want some new pipes for the new bike. I like a deep, throaty sound.... nothing implied there

I like the looks of the V&H black staggered short shots. How do they sound and what else will I need to buy when installing them? Do I need to remap anything or Dyno the bike?

Also any other suggestions are appreciated

They sound awesome. Pretty loud when I twist some throttle.

You can get away with just adding the pipes. That's what I've done. Runs just fine.

I have the SE Heavy Breather waiting to go on, just saving some coin up for the fuel management, whatever route I choose.

Get the pipes, some gaskets, and swap it out!

the v&h ss's aren't really a deep throaty sounding pipe and the shorties will hurt Ur low end.

I would see what the place you bought your bike from can do for you after they screwed up your paint. But yes those pipes sound good if you want something a little deeper sounding though check out the black V&H Big Shot Staggereds look the same only a few inches longer

I like my Rinehart slipons. They are probably the deepest sounding pipe out there for the Softails and are less expensive than a complete system. IMO, the new bikes are too lean from the factory and even changing the pipes only will cause it to run too lean...therefore probably should factor in a fuel management system and new hi-flow air kit. You can get the best package deal (pipes, PowerCommander, and air kit) from Jamie at FuelMoto, plus he doubles the warranty.

I like my Rush slip-ons, gave it a deeper sound, another option might be exile's shotgun pipes.

I just put some V&H Big Shot Staggered Black on my 2009 Crossbones and I love the sound. I accompanied it with a SE backplate behind my stock air cleaner cover and it runs great. Better than it did before. I plan on remapping and dyno, but the local HD dealer says if it's running fine and not too hot, it's good to go. Took it for a about a 100mile ride yesterday with no problems.

Good luck,
Stay Safe

I have the V&H Shorties as well. I have the SE intake and the Race Tuner. Couldn't be happier. They are a bit loud though.

I have shortshot staggards with BCT baffles and have a great sound, deep and yes they are loud but not as loud as some other bikes around here
