I'm putting beach bars and chrome controls on my 08 deluxe and am having a little problem. Im to the point where I'm putting on my new +4 cables and there isnt enough adjustment to take the slack out of the throttle cable. The new cables appear to have the same free play as the stock ones and I'm pretty sure I've attached the cables per the service manual. Am I missing something or is it something to do with the cables???
I dont know the outer cables are long enough to sit in the brackets completely but the inner wire just seems too long??? Could it be something other than the wire??? I did replace the switch housing, could that be the problem???

Your problem is simple!!!! Your cables are way to long. I'm running BurlyBrand beach bars which are 38.5" wide and my cables are only +2

Make sure you have the cable routed and sitting in the correct little cup dealie on the TB. I know it sounds crazy but that cable will sit in the wrong spot and appear to be correctly seated when its not.
The travel lenght of your throttle should be 5" where the Idle is 4 3/4".
I'm telling ya...Double check where that throttle cable is sitting on the throttle body!

Chaz is right on the money. I was thinking about outer cable length. i'm running +2 and have more than enough length on mine. +4 i think would be over kill

It would seem to me that if the cable "end" was not properly seated or bottoming out in the TB bracket that I would have the opposite problem (the inner cable would be too short) not allowing the throttle to close all the way. Idk?
Hey Chaz do they make different cable lengths for different model/year bikes? ie. is a touring TB the same as a softail TB or a 05' softail TB the same as a softail Tb of a 09'?
I do know my cables are adjusted almost all the way out. to pick up the slack in the cables and they are seated in the correct spot in the TB. The inner cable length could be a tad shorter.
