Just did the 10k service on my '09 Deluxe, and all went well, except ...
I don't recall if it did this before or not: When the bike is idling in neutral, and I apply just enough pressure on the clutch lever to take up the slack in the cable (but before I'm actually pulling on the lever) I can feel (and see) it pulsing/moving a little.
Anyone know if this is normal, or did I manage to adjust the clutch pack incorrectly? I do have the service manual and followed the adjustment procedure by the book. The only thing being, the bike was not completely cold -- I'd ridden it about three hours before. Figured it was close enough to "room temp."
Looking for opinions before I go get another derby cover gasket and redo it (hoping I don't need to).
Sounds like what you are feeling is just feedback from the clutch, since you have taken the slack out of the cable.
When underway, if the clutch is engaging when the lever is around 1/3 out, and starting to disengage when the lever is pulled in around 1/3, you should be OK. These are approximations and will vary if the bike is hot or cold. As long as you made the proper adjustment down below, and at the lever end, you are OK.
