Default Grease

My 03 fatboy is leaking grease from the lower steering tube. Is this common and if so how do I stop it. The crap keeps landing on my tank and I hate cleaning it.

Its normal....it will eventually stop and then it will be just a little bit. That stuff used to splash out everywhere but I think it was just excess grease that was put in there.

Normal...I recently greased my neck bearings and they've been oozing out of the bottom of the neck every now and then...hot weather gets it flowing a bit more.

It will stop with time...

Had the same problem when I ignored warnings from other forum members about using grease other than recommended by Harley. I used the lithium based (yellowish) grease and it just kept coming out and getting all over my engine. Recently went and purchased some Harley grease to find out what it is (it's the blue-green stuff). Went to the local Home Depot and got a three pack of grease in tubes the right size and the same type as the Harley stuff for my grease gun and pushed all of the lithium stuff out. Been a lot better since.

I put royal purple synthetic grease in mine last time. it has a much higher separation temp than regular grease. its pricey but atleast it doesnt turn to oil when the temps rise. I havent had a drip since.

Normal, they say pump till it comes out of neck bottom. Dont believe it needs to be done that often.
