I've tried the search function & couldn't find an answer,...If buying aftermarket pipes without baffles, is a remap needed? Also will I lose HP with baffle-less pipes?

As a rule of thumb...just pipes are ok to run without remap, pipes and intake needs to be remapped. I have short shot staggered w/o baffles on my train and it lost some torque but gained a slight bit of hp on the top end...sounds pissed off from idle to redline tho...if ur into that raw sound.
long term? does it effect the engine, bad or good? Also had an opportunity to get skirt blowers without baffles, man they looked Sweet! But steared away, because the indy said I would get alot of back fire, and popping with an 96engine. ?

Oh she'll pop and backfire alright and im sure that running really lean like that would shorten the life of the bike but if its a matter of commuting and puttering around for 6 months till you can afford a tuner...I think you will be fine.
I realize about losing the low end power and my bike did sound shady until I put in the lollipops in the headers....it is still not perfect though. But...I did surprise the folks at the dealership which is always a good thing in my opinion. It sounds much better than it does w/o the lollipops but like I said still not as good as a bike with the correct efi management system on it. Again....let me stress this for those that think lollipops are the cure for their problem.... for me it is a temp. fix until I have the necessary funds to finish everything the way it should be.
