Checked my oil today and it's down just about to the "add" mark...would this be about 1/2 quart? Going to stop by the local indy tomorrow and pick up a quart...only 2500 miles on her so I haven't had to add any yet. Thanks
Check your oil with the engine up to operating temperature. Shut the bike off and let it sit for a few minutes. Check the oil level when the bike is on the side stand. Make sure you don't overfill. You are better off with the oil a bit below the full mark then any above it.

Can someone explain the danger in too much oil? A few weeks ago, I was at the low level mark on the dipstick. The manual says that is about one quart low. I put in a half quart, ran it around the block, shut it down, let it sit for a few, checked the oil, barely any difference. Added another half quart, ran through the same excercise, and now it is well above the full line.
I asked around to see if I should drain some of the excess oil out. Was told not to worry as long as it less than a half quart over (probably bad advice). Yesterday, while riding down the freeway, the dipstick popped out and now the entire rear end of the bike is drenched in oil. I am guessing that too much oil leads to too much oil pressure? Is it possible that I damaged any other seals in the engine as well?
