I've been lurking around here for over a year. hdf has been very helpful. I've been riding an '06 xl1200custom since last August. It was my son's college graduation present. He got a diploma. Dad got a Harley. My wife was supposed to get the sportster this summer and something else for me. She rode with me 2 weeks ago on a ride for Big Brothers/Big Sisters and decided she liked being a passenger but her butt hurt after doing about 200 miles. Then she said the words that were music to my ears. "You need a bigger Harley." "Well if you insist Dear" was my reply. After reading the RK vs. Heritage Classic thread I proceeded to the stealer to try both out. The Heritage won. It just felt right.
We bought an '06 Heritage Softail Classic in Glacier White Pearl. I'm hoping for a Friday pick up. So far I've added V&H straightshot staggered, seac, power commander, dyno test, passenger footboards (w/chrome of course), wider studded passenger seat, luggage rack and white wall tires. Paid MSRP. The dealer I bought my sportster from wanted set up and shipping. Also got color and security system for a "black" price. All add ons at 20% off. I knew exactly what I wanted this time around, thanks to all of you on this site. I'll miss the Sporty. it's a blast to ride but I can't afford both at this time. Thanks again. I'll keep reading and learning.[8D]
Well great choice on the Heritage , really awesome bike . I have a 2000 wouldn`t trade it for the world ! You guys have fun , ride safe and often . Steve from Az.
Welcome RK. I have an 05 Heritage Classic, Black & Lava Red. I've added some chrome goodies but no performance mods yet. So far the biggest improvement was the big studded passenger seat. My wife is very happy with that. She would start to mumble things after about 60 miles on the stock seat. When I was shopping for a new bike, I was looking at a Wide Glide. My wife asked where would she carry her makeup and curling iron. I knew I was getting a bagger of some kind ( Yaaaa Hooooo ! ). The Heritage fits just perfect.
