Have been riding bikes for the last 40 + years and tried many different brands ( Japanese & BMW ) over the years but not a Harley. No real reason why not but I was never really into the cruiser style of bike. I've worked in the past as a MSF instructor and of the bikes we had available ( some included smaller cruiser models ) but that's the limit of my time on a cruiser no matter what the brand. Not getting any younger so it was time to try something else.
To make a long story short my wife has retired and she likes to ride with me so it was time to look for a bigger bike. The area I live in is very windy and it tended to blow the BMW around a bit more than I liked when we were 2 up.
So it was test ride day. We tried a 2005 Goldwing GL1800 ( I've owned 2 older models in the past ) and a 2008 Heritage Anniv. Both bikes where mint with very low miles - Wing 10000 miles, Heritage 4000 miles. Wife was my passenger and we tried both bikes under identical conditions. It was a very windy day which helped the test ride. Suprise the Heritage won out with less wind on the passenger, better visibility for the passenger, better handling at low speeds ( the goldwing handlebar position has never worked for me at low speeds ), bike is lighter ( which makes sense ) and for an all around bike the Heritage worked better for us. So we bought the Heritage and I picked it up yesterday.
