haha, its like the old timer hangin upside down blindfolded to assemble his 45, why not?

ok, the bolt I was thinkin was #27. It seems that it is more of a set screw?

So, you have to slide the tubes down the tree to get at the insides? This doesn't seem like such a painless process anymore.

After watching those two videos everything makes sense now. It is not really a hard job but the whole front end has to be taken apart so it is far from a drop in kit. The only thing that doesent make sense to me is that you have to trim the preload spacer. He said to trim it a little bit higher than the for tube when it is fully extended but to me a little bit is like a 1/4 inch. It looked like his trimmed peice was longer than the orginal. But maybe the fork tube dropped down a little bit. But good video.

I will have to use my works facilities for this as I am ill prepared at home. Any ideas on how long this should take . . . in a "perfect" world? so I can plan for when I get mine.

Boosted,
the drop-in kit is the same for all 41mm front ends, so the preload spacer is cut to a specific length depending on what bike you have. On my fxst it says 4 1/2", but that is just where you should start. I adjusted mine to about 3 3/4". The good thing is that it is just PVC pipe so you can always get more if you need it. I am like a couple of the other guys on here and swapped out my fork tubes for the -2 under, and I just dropped the springs in and used a different size spacer.
If you don't already have an front lowering kit I would go on eBay and look up bkrider and buy some -4 under tubes and install those. Mine came with everything you need for the install, springs, seals, retaining rings etc....
