A far as ebay and exhaust is concerned. It it a good place to buy new pipes? I have looked on there several times and have found some incredible deal on exhaust. Any thoughts?
There are definitely deals to be found, but many times it seems like bidding wars can drive the price higher than you would pay for the same item from a local dealer.
You also want to make sure you're buying from a reputable seller who has a lot of positive feedback and will provide customer service if you need it.
I agree about the bidding wars causing excessive prices. I have been trying to get some Saddle bags for my Deluxe and everytime it ends up being more than what you could get them new at Zanottis. I did get a good deal on a new high output horn but that was a buy it now option.
Buying on ebay can be good....Be sure you know your prices though and have a set price in mind for what you are willing to pay (be sure to remember shipping)
Was looking for something the other day and found it's "Buy Now" and current bid were both higher then the actual cost of the part new...(like rediculously higher). I bid on a part I knew hadn't sold previously and suddenly I had another bidder that took it over what the price was new (something hokey with that one).
eBay = Buyer Beware. But if your carefull you can find good deals.
I got several items off ebay last year:
SEII+ Pro Slip Ons for $118. Retailed for $249
S&S Super E carb for $160. Retails for over $400
S&S Air Kit w/Diablo Cover for $89. The S&S air kit retails for $149 and the Diablo cover is $100 by itself.
I've got a few other items on ebay but those are the best deals so far.
I have had good success buying and selling on ebay over the years, everything from RC cars to motorcycles. The trick to bidding is to have a high speed connection and bid during the last 30 seconds. Bid once and as high as you are willing to pay.
As a buyer - NEVER BID EARLY, that only drives the price up.
Now as a seller I would advise you to bid soon and often.
Look at the sellers ratings and comments , CHECK THEM OUT ! Lot of bussinesses doing bussiness on Ebay - some real deals . My last and best Ebay transaction was a chromed stock rear wheel for my Deuce , including a brand new stock HD tire installed . Also included were new bearings and the tire/ wheel being balanced . This all came from a professional chrome shop with the best chrome guarantee in the bussiness , 3 years , ONLY $400 ! I would have payed real close to that for just the tire , bearings and labor at the HD dealer .
