My wife and I each have our own bikes and we were discussing signals to use while riding. We even discussed getting a 2-way radio system where could talk to one another for longer rides.
I wanted to ask if there are established hand/horn/lights..etc signals that people generally use.
Does anyone have a communications system (not touring)?
Here is a link to the Universal hand signals for motorcycles. Hope it helps.
As for communications systems, there are a few out there. I have the J&M CB on the wifes Deluxe. its a CB and Weather band radio, so she can talk to me on my Ultra, or to others when on group rides. The J&M is a good system for that use.
My buddies and I just ride side by side. Then its easier to communicate. Wouldnt recommend this unless your confident in your and your wifes ability though.
Me and the Ol' Lady use some signals from our scuba diving training, too. Two activities you can't talk while participating - riding and diving - perfect for me.
Enjoy

Why? I guess this could turn political so maybe it is best not to answer.
Hey Man,
It's just my opinion. Not trying to start anything. I've noticed other threads moved due to political discussions. Nothing political to debate, but they do lobby for motorcyclists rights and their roadside assistance plan is free if you sign up for automatic renewal. There are some changes going on in the AMA right now - they're cutting the fat and concentrating more on lobbying. Also, alot of bike shops will offer a discount to members. My dirt bike dealers do, like The Motorcycle Factory on Prince William Parkway. Coleman's Power Sports might, I don't know 'cause they pissed me off years ago. I also enjoy reading the AMA monthly magazine. It's not all a bunch of political crap and propaganda. If people don't join it doesn't hurt my feelings.
I see you're in Falls Church - I grew up and have a house on Haycock Road (one mile from West Falls Church Metro Station) that's a rental property. I live a little further out now but have a bunch of friends inside the beltway (none of them are politicians).
