Default Good performing 2 into 2's ?

So I have always read that in general, 2 into 1 pipes perform better than 2 into 2, especially in lower to mid-range. I really like the Rinehart crossbacks, though. Anyone know if those have any hope of performing as well as the Rinehart 2 into 1's or similar? This would be on a stock 2010 96" with intake and tune. Later when it's out of warranty I'll probably freshen up with a 103" build including some good cams.

2 into 2 will increase high rpm hp but low tq will suffer and you will feel it on each start. i have 2 in 2 and can tell. i has to add a quieter baffle to bring back some tq. I am sure the engineers at rinehart racing designed them to be street usable

I would get the pipes you want, the rinehart crossbacks are cool. As long as you keep back pressure (ie don't remove the baffles) you should be happy with the performance. Post some pics of the crossbacks when you get 'em on!

Just to give you an idea of the HP/TQ of 2-2 vs 2-1

No Reinharts in the mix and someone should compile a new test with the current crop of pipes on the market but like I said it gives an idea of Peak HP and TQ between the 2 designs.

For 2-1, if you have the means, have a look at the D&D Lowcat or the RB Racing pipes .
For 2-2, Bassani and the new BUB pipes are looking tight.

Great info. A couple thoughts. The tq and hp numbers are peak but do not tell you how smooth the power curve is or if their are flat spots. Just changed out my bss for a 2n1 and sop tells me the entire mid range is much more robust, fuller, smoother... Also, some pipes will perform better in a particular build than others, hence some 2n1's are tune-able.

Also, curious where they measured db's from. The 2n1 I installed is noticeably quieter, although far from quiet, then the bss unless you are standing directly behind it, then its only a little quieter. One reason it sounds less loud when riding than the bss is that its added length puts the sound further behind the rider.

Yep Great info, thanks. Above concerns from KumaRide are what I was thinking too. Other thing is I'd love to see similar testing on straight up stock motors with nothing more than intake.

On a related note, does anyone know how to get a hold of Rinehart given their site is just that one page right now?

I wish I knew...They don't show the dyno chart for each pipe which would have been much better to assess the usable TQ and were the power band for each pipe actually was. They do give comments such as "nice flat tq curve" or "Lazy bottom end" but without a dyno chart to pick apart I figured I would not include those. I'm not sure How or Where they measured the DB's for each pipe??

i bet if you write to the mfg of the pipes they can provide you a dyno chart. I have one somewhere on the rush slipons but the power curve is the result of the tuning on the pclll

Do U know that the touring and softail sections here in this forum have Threads that have the dyno's of bikes that lets U see what others are getting to help on question like this.

Lot of members just post numbers but other, put in a pic of the sheets...The sheets are a lot better and preferred as they show the lines.

They both are STICKY threads on page 1 of each area.

The Touring section has over 1200 post in it. (A motors)

The Softail section had over 200 post in it.. (B motors)

I looked for over a yr for sheet to help me deciede on pipes and cams, Lotus Motors used to have the best I could find on dyno sheets. It used to be free, now that so many used it they charge for the right to log on to it.

So seeing the one in the touring section I started one like it for Softails...

I like TQ over HP.

I also like looks and sound.

Rinehart has good looks and great sound I feel, and good reputation for power.

I liked the black Crossbacks. My issue was with the stagered vs flush and which ones had the most equal length. In the end I leaned to the Rinehart 2-1's, but have yet to buy them (the D&D 2-1's and money have me still thinking).
