Default 250 Tire on Rocker?

Im hitting the wear bars on my stock Dunlops (240) and about to buy a pair of Avons (venom rear and road rider front) and want to go with a 250 rear. I was told that this works from before with no mods to the belt guard , swingarm etc...but before I heave over 200 bones for a 250 just want to hear from anyone who is currently running with this.

If you have put a 250 tire currently on your Rocker please advise pos or neg.

I run the Dunlop Elite 3 in 250 currently, but I think the 240 handled a little better.

Wear seems about the same. The Elite 3 is a harder tire compound I think. It is much easier to spin the rear tire, sometimes a pain in the **** when leaned over..like pulling our of driveways etc. I also notice the tire slips a little when cornering hard enough to scrape footpegs. I like the look, but feel like i gave up some grip. Maybe the Avons are stickier.

PS check prices at http://www.easternperformance.com/

appreciate the info. Elite III's seem to be cheaper than the Avons or Metz's but I will go with the Avons. "r" code on the rear and a higher code "149mph" for the front but I wont be hitting that speed. eastern performance are good to go but I found a cheaper price. 190 for the rear and 85 for the front...with shipping I get both tires new for 300. Not bad price. I could save a few more $ by taking the tires off myself but I think I will pay the 120.00 since I dont have the gigantic hex key for the rear axle.

Well from what I have learned recently is that u need to research...an avon 250 is actually a 252 the standard 240 aint quite a 240 and so on... I'm goin for a metz 260 which strangely enough is smaller than the avon 250...

The avon is a real tight fit. A mate of mine had to change to a smaller pulley and belt to get the clearance right...but I have also read guys on here that have made it work..(El gato grande comes to mind)

Best to take some measurements... The stock tire measures 230mm, so... if the Avon is 252, you're going to need more than 11mm of clearance between your stock tire and your belt. 11-12mm is about all I have and since my belt appears to be rubbing the swingarm already, I can't shim the pulley. When working with clearances this tight it will depend on the specific bike as to what will be required to make it work, since production tolerances will exceed the swingarm/belt/250tire clearance.

note: I parked next to a pair of Big Dogs w/250 Avons and the difference in tire width was very apparent... I'll make the 250 work.

Thanks for all the gouge. I will probably not go with the 250's cause of to much $ changing pulleys and belts etc...so I will look at the Avon 240's instead.

4K miles is half what I got. I'm at 8K and hit my bars. I heard of some getting more but not off of a Rocker.

I emailed "motorcycle accessory warehouse" sales@mawonline.com and here is the price I got after haggling but I hadnt paid it yet nor have they shipped:
