Electrical Issues
I have an 08 Night Train. A few months ago I was on a ride and we got caught in some pretty nasty rain for a few hours. Since that trip I have been having an issue with losing all my electrical without warning, everything shuts down. I have to remove the seat and move the battery connections before it will turn back on. Has anyone had or heard of this before?
Did you try tightening the battery connections and/or cleaning off the connectors to ensure there is no corrosion? That is the first thought that comes to mid. Next is it might be some sort of short somewhere.
The connections were clean but i brushed them off again just to be sure and when I reconnected the wired I did make sure everything was tight. I looked to see if I could find anything that would suggest a short but I was not able to find anything.
after the visual check ...... unplug any connections and check for corrosion in there........ check any wires for nicks in the insulation also and check the fuse box for water/corrosion......if the whole bike is shutting down it would suggest maybe the ecu? if it was an electrical fault fuses would be blown or blowing.....i will have a think about it and come back to you
