Speaking from experience, I screwed up two windshields.
I used RainX without a problem the first couple of times I used it. The 3rd time I used a heavy coat and let it dry before I wiped it off. Guess what, IT DON'T WIPE OFF.
It left little tiny blue circles on the windshield that you can't even buff off with a power buffer. Are they better after power buffing them, YES but not good.
So long as you wipe the stuff off before it can dry then you are ok but be careful.
Experience is a tough teacher but you will learn and remember your lessons!
Plaskolite plastic cleaner. Works great. Got mine at Lowes. I used Mothers plastic polish on my windshield that I was going to toss out. Took some elbow grease but it looks as good as new now.
I used Rainx on my 2008 Heritage Windshield, it ruined the windshield. First I tried it on lower section of the windshield and I saw no signs of possible damage. On my anual 5800 mile trip West I applied it to the complete surface of the windshield prior to hitting rain. A disaster, should have read instructions, DO NOT USE RAINX ON LEXAN WINDSHIELDS. It reacted on the Lexan causing severe damage. I really don'know of anything that will keep rain completly off of the windshield, I presently use spray S100 that you can buy at any dealership, it's not a perfect solution but it does roll the rain off to sides of windshield .
interesting, dads got a Cee Baileys windshield he called them and they said it was fine to use rainX on it. What are the baileys made out of or is it still not a good idea????
I use Novus on my shields. Its the only thing I use other than soap and water wen washing. The Novus goes in the Tour Pak and gets used as needed to clean off the bugs and stuff when stopping for gas or whatever.
Novus is a Polish...and while it won't elliminate the rain issue...it does help quite a bit. Water runs off easier and faster. Might be because I use it so often...
I have had dressers for years and wax it with wax like Meguires works fine. it will make it run around and right off. The guy that has it run to the top when a windsheild is dirty it will hold the rain water. but a clean sheild will run it off. Aslo it will help buggs not stick on the windshield. but you got to wash them off with you get home don't wait a weeks.
