Get another bike that is set up with wide tire or leave well enough alone.
I guess you just tell all the guys that put a 240 kit on there bike to just buy a chopper? Buying a new one really isnt in the budget, there is no reason to buy a new one when I can just make this one how i want it

You asked. I told you what I thought. Do whatever you want. When you post a thread that the OL fell off because you only had struts dont say no one told you. It just doesnt seem like you know much about doing it right if you think struts alone are even an option.
Did you look at the ones I posted they are pretty much chrome bolt on frame horns, They are thick metal, not just the flimsy stamped cover that comes factory. If i dont feel that they are safe enough I will weld on some frame horns from a different bike
Good to hear. I was looking at the 250 kits from heart land and that seems to be what they use just a bit different(wider more curved), but they cant us frame horns either and they have passenger pad options. So its the same basic idea as what they are doing.
I cut the horns off my 06 and Im running a rear fender with welded on struts and have no problems in 20k miles plus. This winter i am bolting on replacement horns not horn covers and dropping in a new rear fender and relocating the ecm to in front of the rear splash guard. You wont have anything to worry about. Go for it, dont listen to the people that are scared to take a chance.
HD went to bolt-on inner struts on the 2008 and newer softails. The frame does have a protrusion that the inner strut engages which probably adds strength and gives a more precise location. Makes the frame more modular. They could be welded to older frames for the added strength.
