Default Pipes

I was on ebay today and saw alot of pipes I like. Will pipes that say they fit all softail models 86 and up really fit all of them or is this a sales pitch. There were alot of vance and hines for a pretty good price on there, I have a softail standard and most of them came off of something else. Or if they are new, they just say will fit any softail model 86 and up. My ques is will they really fit any softail model. Thanks

If they say fits all softails 86 and up, they will likely fit. However, there may be issues with the rider floor boards, passenger boards or pegs, axle covers, engine/transmission covers, saddle bag fit, or any number of other items.

The best thing to do is get the manufactures part number from the eBay site and then search the manufactures catalog or sales site to check for fitment. For instance, a set of slip-on Screamin' Eagle mufflers for a Deuce (FXSTD) would not fit a Softail Standard (FXST). Although you may be able to fit them, cost for extra brackets and possible modifications to the frame etc. would make it not such a good deal.
