Default Is different handlebars the answer?

I have just bought a 94 Heritage Nostalgia. I believe these came with a Fatboy tank and handlebars. At any rate, after riding for an hour or so I get a pain in my low neck. I remember having the same issue with my standard Heritage too. Would different handlebars help? Anyone else have this issue and resolve it? Or do I just take an Aleve?! LOL

My hands used to stay numb with my old bars. I changed them and problem solved. So from my experience, bars do make a difference. A good chiropractor does wonders too......seriously.

I don't know. I have taken my Night Train on very long highway rides with no problems, and It has drag bars, and you really gotta reach for those. Maybe being streched out is O.k. for some people.

Everyone is different, I like drag bars and never had a problem, never had a problem with my FatBoy bars either. I am sure someone will tell you to put apes on it and that will fix the problem, depends on the individual. My recommendation would be 14" apes.

I 've gotta a bad back and my apes don't bother me at all. Make sure your seat is comfortable too. Like a bad chair it can also send you to the chiropractor

Can changing the bars allow more leg room? Meaning being able to stretch out the legs and ride comfortable?

I had the same pain in my lower neck. I now have a mini apes there not to high but there right where you need them. What a change Its a hole new world and this is coming from someone who hated mini apes 4 weeks ago till I had a chance to ride the bike with them. The mini apes seem to let your neck and back stay level where many other bars tend to make you lurch forward and thats where the neck pain comes in .

If you want more leg room get a lower seat and floorboard extensions. The stock seat is rather high and flat, providing pretty much zero back support. I also agree with higher bars for that pain. What height is up to you. There are all kinds of seat options out there. Corbin, LaPera, Danny gray, C and C, Mustang and the list goes on.

As far as the floorboard extensions, they will move your boards out to the sides 1.25" giving you much more leg room. They can also be used in conjunction with extensions that move the boards forward. Please feel free to PM if you have any more questions.

Depending on what you have start with different risers. They can get the bars up and closer to you. I put Chrome Werks Sweepers, nice and inexpensive, on the last 2 bikes I've had for the very reason you stated, pain between the shoulders. The new bars allowed my elbows to bend which relaxed my shoulders.
