Rinehart Crossbacks or Python 2-2
I currently have a stage 1 2009 Nightrain with Rush slip ons. Ever since Rinehart came out with the crossbacks I have wanted them on my ride. Now that just about every parts house has deep discounts on them I'm ready to take the plunge. Or so I thought. The local dealer has a set of Python BSS clones on their discount shelf for only $420 which is almost 300 less then the discounted Rineharts. I like the looks and sound of the Rinehart better but the pythons have the power chamber and 1.75 primarys for good low end torque. Which pipe is the better performer? I know the crossbacks are a 3 step pipe and would likely make more high rpm power but I don't want to lose usable torque. Quality wise I know Rineharts are suposed to be one of the best but I keep seeing baggers with RH true duels and on about half of them either the chrome on the mufflers was yellowing or the end caps were purple. Vance and hines stuff seems to hold up well. Any thoughts?

Bear in mind, Rinehart will be putting out new ones including updated Crossback that have better TQ and HP numbers in mid-November. Regardless of current ones in stock, or new though, I'd go with the Cross Backs.

Rinehart. Read something the other day that said the crossbacks put out power that is near exact as the Rinehart 2 into 1. Get what you want now and save the hassle of second guessing your decision down the road when you run into someone that has the crossbacks.
Deciding on pipes is a tough decision, ditto for cams, etc. Knowing that you like the sound of a particular pipe I think is half the battle. I have Rinehart flush cuts on my 2006 FXST and I can say the welds and chrome of the harts are top notch. I really like the fact that the heat shields are welded on. Don’t know about you, but ever time I turn around, I’m removing my pipes for one reason or another and not having to deal with the removable heat shields and their pipe clamps is really nice. I agree, most of the bagger hart tips seem to turn purple to a light brown. I don’t know why this is. Mine are still black after almost 2 years, 12K miles including a grueling ride to Sturgis this year from Oregon. Another point I like about the hart flush cut and cross back is it allows you to replace the rear brake pads and remove the rear axel with out removing the pipes. The V&H BSS looks to be marginal to remove the brake pad pins, but I might be wrong.

I just bought (waiting to get) Rinehart 2-1 in black for $454 tax/shipped/etc... So I think if you want the Crossbacks for near that $420 you could get them.
They make the flush and staggered, I dont which might make more power.
For the price of the discounted Rineharts, I could care less if they make new ones that get a few more HP/TQ later, as the $300 diff could go to more speed parts.
I know what they sound like and look like now. I like them.
