Default Emblem Ownership

I recently had the tank on my 2008 FatBoy anniversary model replaced with a new tank, at my cost. My bike is paid for. When I went to pick up my bike, I was told the 105th medallion on the tank had to be removed per a fax from HD threatening the dealership with a $5000 fine if not returned. I saw the fax from HD. I refuse to release my tank or the medallions as I paid for the bike and own everything on it. The dealership still has the tank and medallion. Has anyone else dealt with this issue?

No, but I know there was talk of emblem ownership when I bought my 100th anniversary. If you damaged your tank but not your emblems, they would remove your old emblems and put them on your new tank. Getting new emblems was a pain. I never heard of a dealer actually trying to keep property you paid for. I would get a lawyer, or at least tell the owner of the dealership that is what you were going to do.

are you kidding me? that sounds pretty ridiculous to me, make sure you get the tank and the medallion back. as you said, the bike is PAID FOR by YOU. even if it wasn't paid off, it's YOUR bike !!!

that's ridiculous !!! never heard of anything like that

Once they sold it to you they forwent any rights to anything on the bike. Secondly how does Harley know you changed tanks? Do they now have gps on them? Sounds like the stealer is trying to rip you off
