I talked to Shaun at sokustoms and he said he is no longer making covers for the XB battery cover. I wan't looking for a leather cover though, I thought he might make plastic covers.

Well I finally got the rear fender in last night, and it is really in rough shape.
The fender came from LedSled Customs, so he just orders them them same way any of us could.
Still in mock up phase, so I should be getting some more pics soon.
Also for any that have a Shade Tree kit already, did you end up taking the rear wheel off to complete the install?

Thanks

I was beginning to wonder how long it would be before Cammy chimed in. Like I said before I dont know of too many people on this forum who are happy with Shady Tree Customs. Just from the talk the fender is far from being ready to paint, like they leed you to believe. It still needs to be mocked up and tweaked. You pay $700 plus shipping and all you get is a raw fender and some mounting hardware. Hell anybody with basic tools and imagination could do that for half the cost, MAX, with shipping.
Bgibbster I hope you can make the fender work. Your Train will look amazing. Hit up Cammy and Cheesecake they made theirs work and I am willing to bet they will give any tips and tricks they used. Good Luck and post some pics.

Mine came like crap too. I bought it painted, which he has since refunded the money for the lousy paint job. Underneath was a ton of bondo to even out all the rough spots. Then his sissy bar broke in half, so I ditched that, and then the flimsy mount started bending at the swing arm. I spent a lot of time ad money with trial and error trying to get it right. Finally, I ditched the mounts it came with, and had some sturdy mounts made up and welded to the fender. They mount on the upper and lower swing arm, plus I had 2 brackets welded to the swing arm where I could attach 2 struts.

I'll show you some pics of the work raw:

Top mount

Bottom mount

Here you can (kind of) see the strut mount with the 2 bolts next to the license plate.

And the strut from the side.

That fender aint going anywhere now! I could put a pillion on that thing, though it would be a real bumpy ride, sitting on a swing arm. And one last piece of advise. DONT bolt anything of considerable weight onto that thing, unless it is attached by a thick steel mount. The constant jarring of the swingarm WILL break it off later if not sooner.

Numb
who's struts are you using? Are they just drilled and tapped into the swing arm?

I got the fender mounted last night, I must have taken the wheel on and off like 5 times. What a pain in the butt. I am going to tape off where I want to hack the fender and then post a couple of pics later tonight.

Saw the struts sitting on a shelf at the local indy. I was told they are SPS struts. They had to weld a small bracket to the swing arm to mount the struts. The holes in the fender were already there from when I had the sissy bar.

Cant wait to see the pics.
