Boogey Lights on a '08 Rocker C
Overall the installation is simple. I took a little extra time because the company didn't have any history with a Rocker. I decided to unbolt the tank and raise it up to access the underside of it and used masking tape to place the lights for a test fit prior to activating the adhesive tape. They warn you, rightfully so!!!, not to misplace the lights... they are gonna stay where you put them...even accidentally. This is why I used tape first to ensure a good fit. More about my screw up on the tank later... but it worked out fine. As you can see in some of the pics the LEDs can be carefully aimed by simply pushing them, in one motion, the direction you want them aimed. I pushed a few of mine pretty far without any issues and even pushed some to the side but this is a little riskier so be very careful.
For installation I had to change it up just a bit cuz the Rocker doesn't have the cow bell to mount too. For this I had to cut the light strips into a group of 3 and place them on each side of my 'grenade' as this is all that would fit due to the 'grenades' small size. They are "CRAZY" bright so the 3 light strip lights up the side of the engine just fine.
For the tank I followed the company's advice and installed the two strips under the inside but I kinda messed this part up. The lights on the left side are actually touching the top of the rocker box but these lights are tough as hell and they work fine. If I had it to do all over again I'd raise them up another 1/4" and solve the problem but it's not an issue though.
For the breather the company recommended (using a basic installation) to put a single strip behind it. I have a V&H breather so the mount prevents this also. I cut it and used an extra wire to jump the two strips and it works fine. Also, since I had an unused extra 3 light strip from 'grenade', I put it inside the breather and it makes the breather look like two eyes (vertical but still bad A$$).
About the company. These guys are awesome. They work with you and stand behind their product. I recieved mine and the switch was bad but I called them and they put it in the mail that day... on a Thursday... and I had it in my hand on Saturday afternoon. I also called them up a few days later and explained my issue with the Rocker and they sent me extra wires to make the install easier. I could've just spliced some wires but I wanted everything to be perfect and they were all over it!!! Never once did they say no and I was a picky as you can imagine.
Boogey Lights are amazing. I recommend them to everyone since they are reasonably priced. Install was simple even for those not technically/mechanically inclined. As for brightness... they are BRIGHT! I was parked one day and another crotch rocket pulled up with the little 'pucks' that just couldn't compete. We talked and as far as I know he was going to call Boogey Lights to order him a set.
This is long and no... I'm not selling for Boogey Lights. I just love the product. You may have a better looking chopper but at night... mine is gonna get all the attention!
For the record... all these pics were taken in Tn in June '09 on a cloudy day around 1600... so you can see how bright they are.
