Switching out the ECM's will work, but I think oct1949's idea is the better and smarter way to go.

He had spent 200.00 getting it checked out and they told him it was the fuel pump, he takes it back home and puts fuel pump on and it stills just bearley idles. ck the pressure and it is around 45 ( we think it is suppost to be around 65).

sorry about not saying he had taken it in before

he is on fix income not much money, like most people trying to get by as little as possible.

Thanks all

I'm wondering if a safer option would be to try the 'suspect' ecm on the good bike.

You're welcome. Please let us know what you find out.

I am quite curious about that, as likely the others are too.

Default Fuel Pressure

Since the pressure is low, remove the fuel cap and turn the ignition to on and listen in the tank. If you hear a hissing/pissing sound, the internal fuel line(s) prolly has/have a hole in it/them from rubbing on the inside of the tank. The pissing sound comes from the hole spraying fuel into the open tank. Note: This test must be done with no more than 1/2 tank so the holes are uncovered.

This is a common problem and removing the pump/filter/regulator assy from the tank and cycling the ignition/fuel pump will reveal the hole(s).
Hope this helps,
Bob
PS - Swapping ECMs will not correct fuel pressure.
