JOHD, thanks for the info. Those look like pretty decent bags for the money. I emailed them for more info, like is extra hardware needed to mount them. If they're a direct fit, it would be cheaper than buying the cyclevisions mounting system and used hard bags. I found a used Dragonfly fairing on Craigslist tonight. The guy is asking $1500.00. It's painted red, inside and out, with radio, several windshields, tripple windshield pouches, adjuctable air deflectors and mirrors. I think I'll call him and go take a look at it. It'd for a RK but I believe a little tweaking on the brackets will get it to fit the Heritage.I know he's got at least $2500.00 into it, just from pricing one out myself.
ctbird, the Fatboy looks great. That's one of the looks I'm going for. I still like the look of those 50's Bubble hard bags too. I think the white bubble bags with my current paint would look good. I'm going to have just the side panels on my tank filled in with the antique white and add a 50's or 60's tank badge. I want to get another full set of tins for the other project (the LOWGLIDE) and have them painted with the fairing and hard bags.I figure I'm going to have to lay out about 5G's to get everything, but look at all of the combinations I'll have. My neighbors will think I have four bikes in my garage.
i have a black set of hard bags from a road king police bike- they have the black hockey puck top for easy opening with gloves. I was going to mount them on heritage, but decided to go a whole different direction. if your interested, email me at clnimage@frontiernet.net
they have a few scatches but since your painting them need to prep anyway. Would do for $425 including shipping. i could take a few pictures later if youd like.
You might be interested in these pics. This was my '06 last summer, with BB Reproduction bags and a Memphis Shades batwing fairing. The bags are extremely high quality and come with all necessary mounting hardware. Rode it all over the Southwest like that. But come the fall, I decided to go back to the traditional FLSTCI look. The bags are gone, still have the fairing. I switch it out whenever the spirit moves me. I've since made lots of other changes as well.
I heard somewhere and I am trying to remember where, to find you the exact info...but thought I would post it in case it jolts someone elses mind:
there is a kit now that allows you to mount the hard leather bags from the RK on your heritage classic. Might have been the cyclevision ones. Have a guy at my local shopw that did that with his heritage...he got himself a set of the leather bags from an RK and mounted those...looks sweet as hell

BB Repos are fantastic, and their customer support is excellent. Not to mention, it's great to be able to support an American small business!
I was at my local dealer the other day. Salesman told me the MoCo has a softail touring bike in the works for as early as next year. Fairing, hardbags. cruise, abs, 103 engine and bunch of other goodies. Or I might've just been dreaming it.
