Hello everyone I, just found this awesome message board and I need to ask a question.
Can you put mid controls on a 05 and later fatboy? I'm getting ready to buy my first bike and Ive had my heart set on a fatboy but i have short legs and the reach isn't comfortable. I have to strain to reach the break. I tried sitting on a street bob and I fit on it like a glove. Can I get this same great fit on a fatboy? thanks for all your help.
Try a reach seat before taking off the boards. I did that with my Wide Glide and fit perfectly now. Quite a stretch to the forwards on a WG and I am only 5'5".
You can also have any seat sent away to Mean City Cycles and they can construct your seat to move you forward and closer to the controls. Another option is to get a shorter brake lever. If it's like the Heritage (and I assume it is) it will come stock with an extended reach brake lever. I found this out when I bought my billet brake lever, I bought the regular length at first and it was much shorther than the stock. The extended reach billet lever was the same length as my stock lever. You probably have quite a few options that are cheaper than moving the controls.

thanks for the ideas, I don't think a reach seat would work for me because I'm a fat dude. I have a tall torso and short legs 28" inseam. If I go with my first choice and get the fatboy I could probable add a bit of extra pedal and maybe bend it out some.

I have short legs also and have no problem with the floor boards on my Fat Boy. I even put the extended brake pedal on my bike because the regular one was too close for me.
don't know about controls...but mid pegs would be cool, give you a chance to stand up and stretch out you back every now and then. How bout those Prodrag?
