I just bought a new set a Klock werks beach cruisers and learned today install may not be as easy as I thought. My initial thought was the wiring harness would easily slip out of the old bars, not so. Looks like I need to de-pin the connectors, slip out of the old bars and install in the new set, then re-pin. More of a PITA than I expected. Is there an easy alternative I'm missing?
You can cut and splice the wires, but IMO it's just as big of a hassle, if not more, depending on your soldering skills. Pulling the pins is not that bad once you figure it out. Just get a tiny flat head screw driver and file down the end to a point in order to pick the plug to loosen the pins. I think the service manual may show how, but also check out some "how to" videos on YouTube.
pm me and i will send ya my phone number..........its pretty easy just hard to tell ya on here..........im a computer dummy.....lol....jus takes to long for me to type everything
"de-pinning" is not that hard....I use a bobby pin... just make sure you jot down where everything goes... I'll also take a picture...just to be on the safe side!
Did you get the Mentele bars. Thats what I have on my 09 Fatty. Check out this site for some help on the wiring. http://wild1inc.com/techtipswiring.html
It was nowhere near as bad as I thought it would be.
