Anyone know tha part number from napa or any other brand crimp tool I'm gonna need to do my ape install? I went to harley with their part number for the special tool and of course they won't sell it to me. Thanks in advance.

I was going to do the same thing with my ape install. I ordered mine from HCC and I just talked to Chris today and he said the special tool that is needed for crimping the pin terminal costs like $450. He told me to solder the wires. I don't see what is so special about this tool that it would cost that much. Needless to say I wasn't very happy when I found out I had to solder the wires. I was not made aware of this when I bought my apes.

Wow!!!. Is that tool really needed or is there a workaround (besides soldering).
I don't know a lot about it but as far as I know soldering is the only way. He did mention something I could buy at a dealer but I didn't really hear what he said. Anyone else with some insight would be greatly appreciated.
I'd prefer a soldered connection to crimp anyway. Soldering is very easy to learn if you don't know how, and a soldering iron is real cheap to buy, plus it's a tool you'll get tons of use out of in the future.
i used to crimp them for a living and had a tool from klein and also cooper and it was not that much. some where around the 30's https://www.kleinconnection.com/weba...10001_10001_-1
i did a google search and there are many out there cheap
