I converted my 06 to the hydraulic tensioners at 19000 miles,tensioners were wore about 20% If you are going to go the conversion route,I would recommend a kit from John Wadsworth aka herko.He sells a complete kit to change to the hydraulic tensioners. He sells the kit,cams,pushrods,lifters,tools everything you need to do the conversion.Me and a friend did mine over a couple of days and it is not to difficult if you take your time.Had a few questions,called John answered any and all questions,great customer service. I cut the oil filter at the top part on the side just under the bead/rim and the cover will side right off.
I used a hand sheet metal cutter, its not the right or left hand cutter which is used often. I used one that cuts a thin strip in the middle.
