I am going to try and make some measurements and use a big vise and create some room for the seat to work. We'll see what happens. Interestingly, their website still shows them selling backrests for the '09 model. I wonder how many more people they will screw.
I posted some pictures a while back of a backrest and bracket I made for my wife's flstc. It works with both the stock rear seat and the custom seat that has more pad. Sounds like a "slight" modification to the one they sent you will solve your issue. Don and Pam

goatdriver Before you do any thing can you take a picture of the bracket and post it I will post one of mine and see if there is any difference? Here is mine.
My backrest looks exactly like yours. What does your passenger seat look like where it slides under the seat bolts? I'm not too good at posting pictures.

it looks to me like you two have differant pillians not back rest.DASHAM has the touring pillion and goatdriver has the stock pillion. they are shaped differant.
Other than the thickness I didn't realize there was that much difference between the 08 and 09 pillions.
The 08 pillion was useless for anything over 50 miles. Is the 09 any better?. If not why not change it out to a real pillion like Mustang makes. 1000% better than the one on the 08s. Of course you'd have to make sure it would fit your backrest.
I have the 14" one which is like a sofa cushion so it's only on riding 2up. Otherwise the stock pillion or fender bib goes on.
Correct, I have the stock passenger pillion and it is different from the one in your picture. That makes sense, since mine doesn't fit and yours does. I bent mine up this weekend trying to make it fit around the seat. Now, it is totally useless either way. I shouldn't have tried.
