I want to minimize my trips to get gaskets, fluids...etc. Putting on 16" apes that are prewired with new cables and brake lines. What other items will I need for this.
Brake fluid
Gaskets?
Do you use lock tight on the risers?
Any special tools?
You will need the gasket were the clutch cable goes in the transmission sidecover on the side of the trans. If the gasket don't tear and comes off with the cover in a clean piece, I would reuse it. Also check to see if your exaust pipes will have to come off, to gain access to the side cover bolts. (you may need new exaust clamps or flange nuts at the jug)
You will need to lift the tank up or off, so the crossover line will have to come off, there goes your gas. Get a hose clamp for the crossover line, assumeing you don't have to cut it off. Drain the tank on the bike outside and then roll it back in your shop (Trust me on this hint). Air breather comes off to put the throttle cables on, (Don't know your setup)
If the apes come pre wired and cables that should cover it, except for the front brake hose, I don't know what you purchased there. IS it a one piece or 2 piece front brake hose? I guess you know how to disassemble the electical plugs were the wires unplug under the tank? Its pretty easy with a paper clip and needle nose pliers. And use blue loctite on the risers. Good Luck

Only other thing I can think of.... When you do pull the side off the trans to swap the clutch cable, you're gonna lose a bit of oil. I had just changed the oil in my bike when I did my bars, so I just added a bit of fresh tranny formula to replace what was lost. It would be a good time to change the oil, if needed.

Thanks for the info. I bought the full package from HCC for my 04 heritage. They said that the brake line is 1 piece hose (no hard tubing).
Will your stock clamps that hold your brake hose to the front fork still work with your new hose? Sometimes the stock hose is a thin metal tube and the replacement line is a hose.
