Let me tell you, I don't wish back problems on anyone!
The OP never said anything about "back problems".

Sorry if I was too sarcastic, but I am biased a bit from the rude behavior of the endless line of trailers that got in our way on the way to Sturgis last year.
You'd think that if they are haulin' bikes, they'd have some consideration for the many riders out there trying to share the same road.

Also, I have heard from many friends the "I couldn't ride that far" thing, but if they were to try they would indeed see that it is not that bad at all. It is much more fun that they imagined and less effort than they think.

For those that REALLY have back issues, I feel for you and my words were not meant to offend you.

But for the chicken-***** that are sceeeered to ride, the least you can do is get out of the way!!! WTF

towing a trailer is not all about braking (I tow 16' and 26' every day). Just as important is suspension, without modifications to suspension most 1/2 ton pickups can not safely haul 2 bikes on a trailer. Another consideration is GVWR, if you exceed it you are subject to tickets, fines, or leaving your trailer on the side of the road. A lot of so called 1/2 ton pickups can exceed GVWR just with passengers and gear. Also there is a reason that Sturgis is becoming the butt of "trailer week" jokes. My opinion is most, not all trailerers, (is that a word) are not at Stergis in the spirit it was started, but for a week long party. Therefor I consider them posers, harsh, but true. As far as back issues, come on. My wife has had 3 back fusion surgeries in the last 20 years and she still rides to Sturgis (albeit on a tri-glide). Fusion 1-bone graft fusion, #2 screw and pin fusion, #3 cages and bone graft. 3 vertebrae essentially immobilized, still has a lot of pain but rides. If a girl can do it? FLAME ON!

Their backs are too sore to ride there, but they have no problem spending the whole week cruising the mountains and walking around main street. You either have a bad back, or you don't.
Surely they don't trailer out there and then sit in a chair all day.

How do you figure a 1/2 ton cant haul two bikes safely? A half ton pickup is more than enough for 2 bikes and trailer.

To each his own.

I ride too and in most cases in alot of pain. I never stated my reason was the reasons for the OP but just a mere example of what some go through!

That said, I stated back problems as an example of some who choose not to ride.

I guess then all you guys who ride must be real men, and the rest of us who trailer for long distances are "posers", right?

Not only does the GVWR make a difference but also the power one has under the hood too.

FLAME ON

As far as choice of trailer I would chose an enclosed trailer too. I plan on getting a 14' enclosed trailer at some point myself. 2010 will be my first trip to Stugis & I too will be trailering.....My 5vr! My brother is pulling his 5vr as well & his neighbor is trailering 6 Harleys in a Well Cargo 24'r. For us time constraints are an issue & being able to bring our 5th wheels to stay in is also very convienant for us. I'm good with being a "poser" I guess. If it makes those of you feel better who are riding, so be it. I may even buy a patch that says "I rode there" just to **** some of you off!
Come on, get over it! BTW, I always get out of the way for bikers as I know how pissed off I get when I'm stuck behind someone pulling.....

If you've got time to load a trailer, load bikes, travel, unload bikes and trailer, then to do it all again to get home, you've probably got time to ride there and back.

If you guys haven't learned yet.... guess what??? You post a trailer question and the flaming will start soon after, some are joking some are not but at least the OP was asking a question he truly was looking for an answer to. Who friggin cares why someone needs to pull a scoot on a trailer, give the person an answer and let it go... geez!!

BTW I have seen people hauling scoots on trailers that have not got a friggin clue!!! They are a danger to themselves and everyone else on the road... that includes quads, mowers and what ever else they haul... absolutely clueless!!!
