Default HD Heavy Breather

Confused by the threads I read. I have an 03 Heritage that I want to put the heavy breather on. In past threads I see that the part number someone used was 29592-05 for one that would fit on a bike earlier than an 08. In the Harley catalog 29299-08 is for an 08 and newer Dyna and softail. I went to Harley and they said the part number is 29299-08. Curious if anyone knows the part number. I would like to get one on the internet as it seems you can save around $75.00 but wanna make sure I order the correct one for my 03. Thanks.

Part number 29299-08 is correct. I have one on order for my 2004 Fatboy that I got off of Ebay for $237 that should be arriving any day. That part number fits all fuel injected softails. Technically, it's only street legal on 2008 and newer Dynas and softails, but it will fit on pretty much all EFI Dynas and softails.

i love the look, but the parts dude at the local dealer told me the heavy breather wouldn't give me any more performance than the screamin eag filter i have already on my fatboy. any thoughts?

Unless your engine demands more air (big displacement). Giving it more won't help it. It does look good, and if you do upgrade the engine your intike will already be there. Check the CFM to see what the difference is. In this aspect more is not always better. Your throttle body won't let it in anyway.
