Alain, the 4" is the height of the risers? Plus 16" or so should do it. Never have done an install on bars that tall so I am stabbing in the dark, but that should be enough length. Call teh shop wehn we open at 11am PST and we can help you.
I just went throught he cable length deal from installing a new front end (tree was thicker and pulled cables too tight).
I measured and thought I needed 3" over then installed them and found out I needed 1.5" over. Good news is Dennis Kirk has a great exchange policy so I was able to get the length I needed and return the others.
I went with the Magnum sheilding brand braided and they are nice cables.
Dennis Kirk was about $4-5 more than others (sponcers) but their exchange policy made it worth it.
Good Luck.
I went +10 on my 18's. "TOO LONG." but ok. I would call one of those places that sell the ape kits, like HCC or something. Those places have calculators for those things. I would have mesurments in hand when you call them. I can't wait to see 24"'s. Things gonna be taller than it is long.
+1 for calling HCC. I just found out that my 16's are being shipped out tomorrow, and Chris knew enough about changing the cables from my 14's (already a different length than stock), to be able to place my new cables in the box while we were on the phone.
Can't wait to see the finished result on your bike.
