Default Deuce Fork Cap s

Got a fork brace for my 05 Deuce. Instructions say I need to move the caps on the fork up a1/16th of an inch. They say to use a piece of wood and tap the cap up. When I do that the wood splits and the cap does not move. Any suggestions? I have been kind of gentle with the tapping, should I tap harder? Should I use something else besides the wood? Open to suggestions. Thanks

I tried the same thing. I ended up putting a clean rag between the fork cap and a socket that took up the whole indentation space. I had to give mine a few moderate taps until I noticed it starting to rise. Be gentle, the fork cap material is pretty thin. Once it started to rise I wiggled it by hand to get the spacing even all the way around. 1/16" is not much.
