Default Se a/c on heritage

Hey Guys, I have a 2007 Heritage and would like to convert to stage 1 upgrade. In visiting with the local HD dealer, I was told that the first change would be to replace the stock A/C with a SE A/C..They also said that nothing else would have to be done to the bike since I would not be changing the stock pipes at this time..When the pipes are replaced then that would require a controller and a re-mapping ...Just wanting a second opinion from the pros....Thinking about changing out the stock exhaust with the short SE street slip ons next....yea or nay ??? Thanks, Dublin

You can do the a/c and the slip-ons without doing anything to your controller and mapping. There is usually a SE a/c in the classifieds for sale. Check there to save a few dollars!

For past 3 yrs I've read U can do the pipes or new High flow A/C, Just one of them and not need to get a F/M system..
Do both and U will need some thing to richen the air-fuel-ratio.
Lately I read on either the 08's or 09's, I think it was the 09's U can install both and just go without anything else...cause the closed loop will adjust it..

Still, I never read U can change both on the 07's and not get a lean A/F condition.
Heres the section on; Elc, Ign, Tuner, ECM, Fuel Injection that will help U if U read through the threads..

https://www.hdforums.com/forum/elect...-injection-55/

IMHO I'd do the pipes first, then later get the High flow A/C and F/M and dyno to get her running even better.... Again; thats just me...
Good luck,

I can get you any brand air cleaner setup for a discount when you are ready. PM with make and model and I will get you pricing. As far as changing the a/f without adding a tuning module? If you are adding more air to the mixture the bike will run much better with some sort of tuning device. Just my opinion. If I were changing the air filter on my bike, I would add a tuner for sure.

When changen to a high flow intake a remap/tune is needed. If only doing pipes on a 07' later no tune needed.

Why not just do it right and do a full stage I ...pipes/intake/tuner...it is a HD after all....Good Luck.

Don't want to open a can of worms, but you can get away with just XIED after a pipe and AC upgrade. I rode this way for 6 months with no problems. I would have left it that way but I live in the city and needed maximum heat reduction, so I got a real tuner.

If you end up wanting to get both pipes and stage 1 kit, contact Jamie at Fuel Moto he will set you up with a Fuel tuner, pipes and stage 1 kit (air breather) for a great price...highly recomended

I've got a 2006 Heritage and last year did exactly what you did - with a slight variation.

I got SE slipons - may find them here or on ebay, got the Fuel Moto version of the SE stage 1 A/C (much cheaper), got a PCV from Fuel Moto(pre-tuned by Jamie), and installed myself. A huge difference - and huge labor saving from the dealer.

Once I saved a little scratch, I had it dyno'd and got 5 hp and 5 lb of torque.

Good luck - for sure give Jamie a call at Fuel Moto - good people.

+ on what Hooker6 said and did. I did the same with Jamie, with the Fuel moto stage 1 kit, plus the pipes and PC III from Fuel Moto.

Just wanted to throw in my two cents here.

Not sure what kind of sound your looking for out of your bike but I would not waste the time nor money on the SE slipons unless you are postive that you want a milder quieter sound. The SE's do deliver good torque but the sound they produce is not much more than the stock exhaust. If you buy them new your talking 300 dollars for the pair. At that price your halfway or better on a real exhaust system.

Just something to think about.
