Default So I bit the bullet...

Started my 16" ape install yesterday, followed kenandjudys instructions and took my time, but disocvered several things. My current cables weren't long enough, and that really affected the install. The tank actuall fell off the top off the bike where it was perched for many hours while I was eating lunch and retained avery small dent that pissed me of the worst. When this happened the fuel line broke and thats when i just about let losse on anyone nearby. My buddy who had been hanging out and helping all day just quietly got up and left. The install was slightly botched as the cables that were stretched to thier capacity were not working properly and the bike wouldn't start or anything. So I went and bought the hd MANUAL AND WHAT PART OF THE FUEL LINE THAT THEY HAD INSTOCK AT THE DEALER. don't mena to shout...but they didnt have all of it that I needed of course, so I had to order the other piece. So today, I went and ordered all new cables, picked up my front brake pads that took a month to arrive, and called a friend who is a mechanic at the dealer and asked him to complete my botched install. Oh well, most of it went well, but not all. So I am not the best mechanic, but I can still get by without taking my bike to the dealer for anything. They come to me at the same price or wait, maybe less. I am truly lucky. Anyway, just had to get this off my chest as this is killing me, can't ride, and really would like to. Oh well.

Man,thats too bad.I'm sure it'll work out for you in the end.Personally i dont do that kind of stuff my self especially for those reasons.I've been lucky since i have a guy who does work at his home.He does all my installs and stuff.I rather pay him and have done right the first time, and it's a BIG price difference than going to the dealer.Turn around is alot quicker to.I'm getting ready to take the bike to him to do a service.

I give you an "A" for Effort! Good luck. (My honey is outside right now trying to hook up a CB on my bike so when we ride out to Sturgis we can talk to one another!!! I anticipate any minute that he'll come in cursing and slamming around....but we'll see. Maybe it's all going smoothly out there......)
