Powdercoat would be a simple solution.

I just finished staining it with the bronze stain. I am about to put the first clear coat on it. You could easily do the same thing with black paint.

Default How to Remove chrome

Hi, how did you remove the chrome? Did you do the same to the front springs as well?

The company "Works" in Canoga Park, California makes a shock for the Springer front end that is available in both black and chrome. It is expensive, but it is well worth it as it really improves the performance of the front end.

I don't believe the seals in the shock would survive the powdercoat oven.

They make one for the FX springer...the FL is the same size but valved stiffer.
