Default PCV Install 04 FXSTBI ???

hello all! looking for some serious help. after much research i finally decided to buy the power commander 5 for my 04 nightrain through fuel moto. i got the module yesterday and have been trying to install it ever since. i have ZERO room under the seat. i have a corbin solo but also tried with the stocker. the main problem is the connectors and the bucket that the ecu sits in. i also have a batt tender and the kuryakyn run/brake/blink module for the led lighting on the blinkers/taillight. so it was already a tight fit, but i didnt know the plugs would take up so much room from the ecu to the pcv. i was able to route the ecu behind the bucket into the wheel well and bam! seat fits everything is golden. but i have a major concern about that and want to know your thoughts on this... if the ecu is waterproof and the connectors waterproof, hd wouldnt spend the money to put it in this bucket above and away from water intrusion possibilities. does anyone have any ideas or suggestions for installing it? i removed the battery and there is no additional room i can claim. neither seat mounts with all the equipment under the seat. i cant reroute anything because there is no additional wire to be had. im at a loss other than the "under the bucket in the wheel well gonna get water on it" solution. can anyone help?!?

If water intrusion is a concern, can you mount the PC-V in a tupperware container and cut out slots and seal the slot entrance's for the wires with silicon? If the PC-V is behind the wheel well no one will see it and there should be plenty room there.

I have a 07 FXST, and i put my PC3 where the Siren would be placed, behind the plastic in front of the rear tire.

the problem is that i cant get the ecu to fit under the seat with the plugs from the power commander installed. but if i move it to inside the wheel well, everything fits. but im concerned about water and the stock ecu. i can mount two of the four bolts on the stock location from the underside and it holds the ecu, no prob, and clears the tire through the suspension movement. but is water intrusion a concern?

On my 08 I have it mounted behind the rear splash guard along with my security siren. I also bought a mini USB cable that i kept connected to the PCIII and ran it under my seat. That way my tuner won't charge me extra labor for try to gain access to it.

You've probably got it mounted by now, but I mounted my PCV on the battery per instructions for the 08 softail. The kit is actually for a heritage/deluxe and comes with the new ecm tray which my fxstc does not have or use.

I had my PCIII in front of the rear tire, even made an extra water flap out of toolbox liner to keep the water off it. I had to cut the big 40 amp fuse holder off fuse cover so I could stuff it down flush with the frame, and then the big connectors laid on top of the fuse cover. I taped up the fuse with electrical tape.

My concern now is the rear of the PCV is sort of exposed to the elements, and I'm not sure how well those rubber plugs will work. I haven't worked on a solution yet.

I am following this thread with interest, please keep it updated.

I haven't decided yet which fuel system I am going to get. I was close to deciding on the PCV so I printed and read the installation instructions. I am concerned about how tight it is going to fit (I also have a Brake/Turn module) The instructions said that I'd have to remove the seat strap and move the stock ECM higher and attach with velcro. I wouldn't care about the strap except it hides the split in the stock seat. I wouldn't mind the velcro, but if it is that tight of fit I was concerned my turn module would make it too much. Harley did an ingenious job squeezing all that stuff into that small of an opening, and I feel sorry for the people in that stage of the assembly line, but I wish they would of left us a little room to work with.

I don't really feel comfortable moving the ECM under the fender of cutting into the fuses. If something were to go wrong and I needed to have warranty work done, they would have a pretty good argument not to give it to me with those kind of changes.

I bought a PCV and Fuel Moto big air filter last fall and haven't put them in yet, because of this exact reason. I have an LED turn/brake blink unit as well.

However, taking Aviscomi's USB cable a step (perhaps absurdly) further, I wonder if it would be possible/advisable to run a longer wire from the ECU and mount the unit inside a saddlebag. That would protect it from the elements and also save room under the seat.

I was the same way about whacking the fuse cover. I did that in 08 when mine was new. You'll see what I mean when you look at it. Just buy another cover as a spare if you want too. You won't have to move your ecm. The only reason I cut the fuse cover was so I could push it down further so the connectors could sit on top and then the seat fit just fine. I love my softail, but the oil tank just takes up a lot of room.

I think I follow you now. . . Would you, by chance, have a picture of the set up?
