I think if I tried to put my wife on a seat pad like that on the factory back fender she would think I was trying to get rid of her. My wife is only 120 lbs but the risk of that fender buckling when you hit a hard bump or hole and her going off the back just isn't worth it, and I would never forgive myself for such a stupid mistake.... Not to mention the previous points of her spine looking like an accordian...
Passenger pad wont work on a Rocker C fender unless its a Heartland conversion steel fender with struts. Dont do it man, it can be very dangerous for your wife or any other passenger.
thanks for the feedback. I will re-consider now. Dont want to cause serious injury or death to anyone. Looks like I will have to get a rear fender conversion kit now!...that sucks :-) I just found a sudden need to carry passengers from time to time now. Appreciate the input, keeping me straight. funny comment about, wife thinking I was trying to get rid of her....lmao
Yeah...I did get a set of those touring struts I could go that way. My concern about the heartland kit is the seat distance to my new handlebars. The sprung solog seat I have on right now gives me just the right distance, if I go lower I have a feeling I wont be able to reach the bars..lol.
Here I go once again... Getting an internal strut fender that can support up to 300lbs made, it will appear to mount the same way as the stock fender but will have steel bands underneath to make it more rigid. This guy has been making these for softails since 1999 so I guess its nothing really new. Additionally, he will lower the fender to the tire so that there is 1/2" of space (to eliminate the fender to tire gape). I will post pics up as he gets it done and that wont happen until after some of this snow goes away. Thanks for all the input...putting the pad on the stock fender would have been hazzardous.
