Can someone explain what "Autotune" does? This is new to me...seriously...im lost.
Auto Tune is a feature that uses wideband O2 sensors (closed loop mode) to automatically tune your bike to run and perform it's best under your specific climate and riding style. That's the theory, anyway. My T-Max still needed a little tweaking after a month or so of letting it auto tune itself.

Hmmm...sounds gimicky...does it actually change to a noticeable extent? Does it ever stop "autotuning" or is it in a constant mode of fuel adjustment?
Very good info. I had sort of decided on the PC V from FM and add the auto later depending on how it runs. I may consider the Tmax if the reliability is there.
If you could watch the two videos above you would see that it's hardly a gimmick. It does actually auto tune the bike to run more efficiently under your personal set up and conditions. Fine tuning may or may not be required. It stays in auto tune mode, as climate and conditions may change as you ride.
The auto tune part adjusts the afr to the target settings, which the user can adjust to their liking, as well as the spark map. I had a Tmax for 13,000 trouble free miles, sold the bike and kept the Tmax to use on my new ride. Other than the gauges going dead as mentioned by a previous poster all was well. It can also be tuned "live" and very quickly on a dyno with a competent operator.
Some things about TMax that are not readily apparent. TMax uses the wideband O2 sensors to monitor the AFR. It uses these measurements to adjust the fuel flow so that it matches the "desired AFR profile". The proper "desired AFR profile" must be loaded into the TMax to start with. TMax does not autotune for best performance, it only tunes to match the desired AFR profile. TMax controls the engine timing via maps, it does not autotune the timing. Also, TMax does not use the knock sensor in your engine to monitor for pinging and eliminate it as your stock ECM does. I am not as familiar with the PCV, perhaps someone can comment on that?
